Math Olympiad

Math Olympiad is an international math competition. Last year 150,000 students from 6,000 teams worldwide participated in the Olympiads — 49 of the 50 states and nearly 30 countries were represented.

Red Pine students in 3 through 5 may choose to participate in the monthly contests. There are five contests with five challenging problems each for a total of 25 math problems. The students participate in the contests in their classrooms at school. All students who receive a score of 3 or higher on any contest are recognized by having their names announced on the KRPN news.

Each spring, the 35 students with the highest scores out of the 25 problems make the official Red Pine Math Olympiad Team and have their photos placed on the wall in the Red Pine Math Hall of Fame. For more information, contact Linda Denmark at Linda.Denmark@district196.org, or visit the official Math Olympiad website.
