Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) - Grades 2 and 3 District 196 students in grades 2 and 3 will be participating in the administration of the online version of the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) between December 2, 2019 and January 31, 2020. Grade 3 students at Red Pine will take the test on December 9th, 10th and 11th. Grade 2 students at Red Pine will take the test on January 13th, 14th and 15th. The CogAT assessment measures students learned reasoning abilities in the three areas most linked to academic success in school: Verbal, Quantitative and Nonverbal. Results can be used to assess a student’s ability to perform school learning tasks, to suggest possible placement for school learning activities and to evaluate a student’s achievement in relation to the talents brought to school learning situations. The sub-scores are for tasks that require the use of English language (Verbal) and those that do not require the use of the English language (Quantitative and Nonverbal). Verbal tasks include verbal analogies, sentence completion and verbal classification. Quantitative tasks include number analogies, number puzzles and number series. Nonverbal tasks include figure matrices, paper folding and figure classification. If you have any questions about this test, please contact Denise.vonasek@district196.org.

Coke Rewards The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply enter the product codes here: https://us.coca-cola.com/give/schools/ and our school receives a donation. Do you know of any company that would allow a box to be set up to collect Coca-Cola caps? We can get a box all set up and will drop off and pick up the caps! (there is a collection box in the entry area of the school as well) Please contact Ashlie Brown at Ashliebrown427@gmail.com if interested.
