Think Summer 2020! CAHOOTS math and language arts in one book … great value! Parents, it is time to start thinking about summer and how you will help your children keep their math and language arts skills sharp. CAHOOTSis a workbook correspondence program for math and language arts, designed to more closely match our district curriculum through an engaging and reflective approach to learning. CAHOOTSshould not be considered as a replacement for participating in summer school, if a child qualifies. CAHOOTSregistration information will be sent home with students the week of March 2. Sample workbooks will be available for review in the school office in February/March. The deadline for registration is April 3. Cost is $42. Watch for more information later this winter.

Girls on the Run is coming to Red Pine! We will begin the week of March 16th, meeting every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45pm - 5:15pm. The season ends with a noncompetitive 5K event. Online registration opens February 1st and closes February 8th. Our team maximum is 20 girls. If more register, selection will be based on a lottery. News From the Library: Volunteers needed for our Scholastic Book Fair over conferences Wednesday, 2/12 - Thursday, 2/13 in the Red Pine Elementary Library. We need volunteers...we need YOU! Please sign up now or feel free to check with us about this fun and rewarding volunteer experience. Visit: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/redpineelementaryschool We have volunteer spots open for set-up - the day before the Book Fair on Tuesday, 2/11 @ 3:30. And we have volunteer spots for Wednesday (4 pm - 8 pm) and Thursday (12 pm - 8 pm) when the Book Fair is open. In the past some Red Pine Cardinals have come back to fulfill volunteer hours for middle school / high school- which we love! Please spread the word!
“Every Minute Counts” Reading Challenge” Our school will be challenging several neighboring schools in a “Time to Read” competition. Red Pine students are to record reading minutes from Feb 5- Feb 20using yellow reading record and drawing slips that are coming home in Friday Folders today. Last year’s winner was Shannon Park and other past winners include Westview and Highland Elementary. Maybe Red Pine can bring home the trophy this year?! Engaging in Family Digital Conversations Mark Aronson, District 196 Learning and Technology/Math Coach, has an MA in elementary education from Rockhurst University, and Jenny Huling, District 196 Teaching and Learning Specialist, has an MA in Learning Technology from the University of St Thomas. Both have been instrumental in the implementation and training of the one-to-one technology initiative in District 196.
