District 196 phasing out FeePay, exploring other options

Dear District 196 Families,

On Wednesday, February 18, the Board of Directors of Sourcewell Technology unanimously agreed to discontinue the FeePay fee management and online payment portal used by approximately 40 school districts in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

We will continue to use FeePay through this school year and plan to have a replacement service in place for the start of the 2020-21 school year this fall. Even before Wednesday’s announcement, district staff had started researching platforms to replace FeePay, which is used to place money in students’ meal accounts, pay school fees and register for activities. Sourcewell Technologies has committed to support districts in our transition to a new service and we will keep you informed throughout the process.

The auto-pay feature is not currently available on FeePay, but users can request to receive low-balance email alerts when their child’s meal account dips below a level they select. We apologize for the inconvenience and frustration caused by the FeePay service and will continue to work with you to resolve any issues you may be having; call 651-423-7707 for assistance.

We ask for your patience in making this change to a new online payment and registration service this year.

Thank you.

Mark Stotts
District 196 Director of Finance and Operations

Gracias.

Think Summer 2020!
CAHOOTS 2020 Summer Program
CAHOOTS math and language arts in one book … a great value!

Parents, Community Education is pleased to be offering CAHOOTS, a K-5 summer math and language arts correspondence workbook program.

The program is portable, flexible and designed to closely match our district curriculum through an engaging and reflective approach to learning.  After completing each lesson and checking answers online, students complete an assignment reflection and send to a CAHOOTS Buddy who will send a written response back.

You will receive a letter which includes enrollment instructions the week of March 2.  Cost is $42.  Final registration is due April 3.

It is recommended students work on the grade level they will be entering in the fall (i.e. 1st grade is a review of kindergarten), to review and reinforce skills learned during the school year.  Please discuss with your child’s teacher, if you feel another level may be more suitable.  Sample workbooks are available to view in your school office.

CAHOOTS should not be considered a replacement for participating in summer school, if your child qualifies.  CAHOOTS is not intended to replace regular reading for enjoyment or math activities that strengthen your child’s fluency and love for math.

Influenza Info linkhttps://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/flu/basics/fluparent.html

Please review this link as we are starting to see Influenza Like Illnesses and Influenza A.  The recommendation is students remain at home until they are fever free, diarrhea free, vomiting free for 24 hours without Ibuprofen or Tylenol.  This helps prevent spread and also helps your child return when they are feeling good and ready to take on the day.

Remember K-5 should have an extra set of clothes rolled up in their backpack for days where they get wet outside, spill syrup or milk, or any other type of accident where they are wet.

Below is a link for Lice Advice.  Lice is present in our community and usually does not start in the school.  I recommend parents be vigilant on checking after sleep overs, large gatherings, places where your kids go over breaks or weekends and toss jackets and hats in a pile and so on.
